New Photos from Rock-a-Hoola Waterpark

Gary Miereanu from Los Angeles, California shared some awesome photos and captions of Rock-a-Hoola.  Taken around 2007, these are great images to have at Modern Day Ruins.  Thanks Gary!

Once an oasis just a smidge over midway to Las Vegas, it's now a weather-beaten, abandoned water park on the edge of Yermo, CA.

"It's been one of my favorite parts of the drive to-and-from Vegas for at least 12 years. I finally stopped there about five or six years ago... I dug it."

Classic signage ... and the desert sun and wind has taken their toll.  They've got those fixtures all over the abandoned park.

 the "Party Area"

The doors are still open to the Video Arcade... but nobody's home.

 Restrooms

Sold out again!

Amazingly, the front gate sign looks nice and fresh.

Note all the missing letters.

The fun pumps at the turnstiles.

 The lazy river is dry.

You can see the standards, but the slides have been removed.

 No squirting anymore.

I have no idea how the palm trees are still standing.

This interesting little bug and some enormous red ants (can you say "Them!") -- on these blooming wildflowers -- were the only signs of life at Rock-a-Hoola. And, of course, me ...

If you haven't done so already, be sure to check out the original Rock-a-Hoola page on Modern Day Ruins.

Let Gary know how much you enjoyed these photos by letting him know in the comments below.

  1. it is a shame....after a hard days work and money invested, the park had to be shut down.

  2. I was there last week and it has deteriorated quite a bit since these photos were taken. It's looking very post apocalyptic these days...
Just found your blog earlier today and I like it! I'll be doing a blog post myself on it very soon.

  3. Hi there! I posted it this morning. Feel free to use any of the photos. Amazingly, somebody is looking into reopening it as "Oasis Lake Dolores." Here's the link to my blog. http://www.patricktillett.blogspot.com/2013/01/another-desert-oddity-post-apocalyptic.html
